PERSONAL: Regarded as one of the top middle blockers in his age group, he broke the previous Heat block touch record at 10’10.5’’ and narrowly missed the highest jump ever recorded in the gym at 11’7'' on a visit prior to his freshman season. Kern has plenty of championship hardware in his trophy cabinet with a gold medal at the U17 Mid-Western elites with Team BC, and a provincial gold metal with his old club team, the Kelowna K'Pow. His younger brother Brodie is also on the Heat men's volleyball team
