University of British Columbia Okanagan

PERSONAL: Matthews came to the Heat as a multi-talented guard from Sentinel Secondary in North Vancouver. In each of his three seasons as a senior Spartan, Matthews was named a Howe Sound Team All-Star, and was the Howe Sound Player of the Year in both his grade eleven and twelve seasons. On top of those season-long awards, Matthews was named a First Team All-Star at a number of tournaments in which the Spartans competed, including the Cactus Cup in Arizona. Triston was also a passionate and talented baseball player growing up, competing in the 2012 Little League Canadian Championships, nearly earning a spot in the Little League World Series. He went on to play with the North Shore Twins and was a pitcher and outfielder in the Pacific Baseball League before deciding to hang up the cleats and focus on basketball full-time.

UBC OKANAGAN 2016-17 (1ST YEAR)

• Averaged 5.2 points a game in his rookie season along with 3.4 rebounds a contest
• Started in the last four conference games of the season where he scored double-figures in three of these games
• Was a finalist for the UBC Okanagan Male Rookie of the Year
• Named a USPORTS Academic All-Canadian

UBC OKANAGAN 2017-18 (2ND YEAR)

• Averaged 12.1 points a game in conference play including a career-high 28 points against UNBC
• Named a finalist for the UBC Okanagan Male Provost Award for Excellence (two semester)
• Was the teams second best rebounder on the season, grabbing 5.7 boards a contest in the Canada West

UBC OKANAGAN 2018-19 (3RD YEAR)

• Led the Heat in scoring at 17.2 points a contest while also grabbding 7.2 rebounds a game as a shooting guard. 
• Following back-to-back strong performances against Brandon in early November he was named the Canada West Male Second Star of the Week.
• An extremely consistent scorer, Matthews finished in double-figures in terms of scoring in all but two conference games.
