For the Heat, Ford recorded six saves over 90 minutes, making three saves in each half.
On the UBC side, Jayda Thompson led the way with two goals and an assist, putting all three of her shots on target. Nina Rhode netted the game winner, while Sophie Harrison scored on her lone shot in the 49th minute.
The Thunderbirds generated an 8-1 shot advantage in the first half and put five attempts on goal, while Chiu recorded the Heat's lone shot. Ford made three saves, including two during a stretch in which the Thunderbirds took four shots and two corners. UBC scored twice to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half, UBC continued possession, generating all eight recorded shots and netting five, scoring twice to finish the game 4-0. Ford, the Thunder Bay, Ont., product, made three saves in the half for UBCO, including one during a final stretch in which UBC had four shots without finding the net.
