KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan Department of Athletics and Recreation announced on Friday that
Doug Allin has stepped down as head coach of the Heat softball team.
Allin has been in the role for the past two seasons, amassing an overall record of 51-16-2, and leading the team to the gold medal at the 2025 Western Collegiate Softball Association Championship and Canadian Collegiate Softball Association Championship. He also guided UBCO to a silver medal at the 2026 WCSA Championship.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this program and for the many experiences, relationships, and memories that have come with it," said Allin. "Being involved with UBCO women's softball has been a truly meaningful part of my life, and I am proud of what we have built together."
"I would like to sincerely thank the University of British Columbia Okanagan for its continued support of our team and for providing our athletes with the opportunity to compete, grow, and represent UBCO," continued Allin. "I would also like to extend my deepest appreciation to our sponsors, whose generosity and commitment have helped make our program possible."
"On behalf of UBC Okanagan Athletics and Recreation, I'd like to thank Doug for his time with the program," stated Heat Director of Operations
Layne McDougall. "He helped our team achieve some outstanding results on the field and we wish him all the best moving forward."
With Allin's departure, former Heat student-athlete and team manager Kasey Wright has been appointed interim head coach.
"We are grateful to Kasey for stepping into the interim role," added McDougall. "We as a department are committed to supporting our athletes and the program as they move through this period of transition."
The team is also actively seeking coaches to support the softball team moving forward. If someone is interested in applying for a head coach, assistant coach, or support coach positions, please contact Wright at
