Women's volleyball (4-8) returns home for their first matches of the new year, set to face the Calgary Dinos (5-5). The Heat hold an all-time 11-11 regular season record against Calgary, winning two of their last three matches against the Dinos. The match-up will be a key one for both teams this weekend as they sit eighth and ninth respectively in the Canada West standing.

The Heat will lean on veteran leadership as they open the new year, including middle Natalie Funk, who has been a standout all season, leading the team in kills, blocks, and digs. UBCO will also look to fourth-year middle Madison Gardner, who enjoyed the best weekend of her career back in December, setting career highs with 13 kills and eight aces in a match, the most aces recorded by a Heat player in a match.

Men's volleyball returns home this weekend with an 11-1 record and will look to take a bite out of the Calgary Dinos (4-6). Historically, Calgary has presented a tough challenge for the Heat but UBCO will be looking to ride the wave of momentum from their record-setting start into this weekend's matchup.

During the holiday break, UBCO travelled to Ontario to face two other nationally ranked opponents, including the No. 7 Queen's Gaels and No. 5 Windsor Lancers. While the Heat were unable to secure wins, they claimed two sets from Queen's on Friday before removing their starters.

The Heat will be aiming to continue their winning ways and extend their current eight-game regular-season winning streak. Several UBCO players have emerged as Canada West statistical leaders this season and will look to carry that momentum into the final stretch of regular-season action.

Women's basketball (6-6) opens the new year on the road, continuing the Presidents' Cup race against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack (5-7) in Kamloops. The two teams met earlier this season in UBCO's home opener, where the Heat earned a 52-48 victory, holding TRU to 16 second-half points.

The two universities enter the weekend tied in the Presidents' Cup race, with both teams sitting at 2-2-1 through soccer, basketball and volleyball action thus far. The WolfPack hold a 20-point edge in the tiebreak meaning the Heat will be looking for two wins this weekend to secure the trophy.

UBCO holds a 14-19 record historically against the WolfPack but enters the weekend riding a nine-game winning streak over their opponent. The Heat will aim to build on their strengths and carry the intensity they showed in one of their final games before the break, highlighted by the 68-67 upset over the No. 10-ranked UBC Thunderbirds in November.

Men's basketball (3-9) also squares off against the TRU WolfPack (8-4) this weekend in a Presidents' Cup matchup. TRU leads the season series 3-2 in soccer, basketball and volleyball action so far this season meaning the Heat will need a pair of road wins this weekend to claim victory in the season series.

UBCO will lean on fifth-year veteran Jalen Shirley as they try to take down the WolfPack. Shirley ranks second all-time in career scoring at UBCO with 1,302 points and sits third in the Canada West scoring race this season, averaging 18.4 points per game. He will be looking to set a new school record in his final games and make team history.
