Dhudwal becomes the all-time leading rebounder, as men's basketball falls to No.1 nationally ranked Victoria Vikes

The fifth-year forward caps off his two-year career with the Heat, amassing a program high 425 career rebounds

KELOWNA, B.C. - The UBCO Heat fell to the USPORTS No. 1-Ranked Victoria Vikes 102-84 on Saturday at the UBCO Gymnasium to conclude the 2024-25 regular season.

Jalen Shirley had a standout performance tonight setting a career-high 32 points and eight assists while shooting 57.1% from the field. Veteran forward Jas Dhudwal put up 13 rebounds to become the Heat's all-time leading rebounder totaling 425 in just two seasons wearing the blue and gold.

In the first quarter, Leon Schenker opened the game with a big three, setting an energetic tone as the Heat went on to shoot eight-for-15 from the field, including three-for-four from beyond the arc.

Defensively in the second quarter, the Heat managed to grab 12 rebounds and block two shots. The visiting Vikes capitalized on opportunity with 20 total rebounds and shot 10-for-23 from the field giving the visiting team a 23 point lead headed into the half.

In the third quarter the Heat got outscored 27-21 making nine of 17 shots, including three of six from beyond the arc. The Heat also recorded eight rebounds and four assists.

In the fourth quarter, the Heat outperformed Victoria scoring 30 points to the Vikes' 19. The Heat showed strong offensive play, shooting 12-for-19 from the field and hitting three of seven from beyond the arc. Despite the Heat's explosive fourth quarter it wasn't quite enough as the Vikes captured a 102-84 victory.

With this loss the Heat's season comes to an end with a record of 4-16. The Heat would like to thank graduating players Imoudu Ibrahim, Gavin Ashworth, Jeffrey Tezo, Elan Kimpton-Cuellar, Jas Dhudwal and Jonathan Haughton for their contributions to the men's basketball program.
