Men's basketball looks to get back in the win column as the Heat return to home court to face the UNBC Timberwolves in a doubleheader weekend.

The history between the teams is closely matched, with a 11-14 record in conference play. The Heat secured their last win over UNBC 73-71 this past October and will aim to replicate that strong performance this weekend.

Last weekend, the Heat fell to the UFV Cascades and No. 6 UBC Thunderbirds in challenging contests. On Friday night against UFV, Isaak Moore and Jalen Shirley led the scoring with 14 points each, while Anthony Brady anchored the defence, assisting the team's delivery of a strong second-quarter performance. Saturday's game featured the first-ever start for rookie Gudmund Rothing, with Jalen Shirley once again leading the team's efforts in the challenge.

History is on their side, as the Heat own a 15-10 conference record against the Timberwolves, including an 88-48 victory over UNBC this past October.

On Saturday, the team faced their sister school, the No. 6-ranked UBC Thunderbirds. UBCO stayed competitive in the first quarter, shooting 47% to match the home team's efforts, but ultimately fell despite their strong efforts. Lily Pink led the way with 10 points, two blocks, and two steals.

Following an undefeated regular season and a Prairies U Championship gold title, men's rugby heads to Montreal, Quebec, to take on the nation's top programs at the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championship.

The team's Prairies U victory marked their second consecutive championship, earned with a dominant 46-22 win that punched their ticket straight to nationals. This will be the team's second national appearance in program history, and the Heat are determined to improve on last year's sixth-place finish.

Despite a tough loss in Wednesday's opening match, the Heat remain focused and are ready to bounce back as they chase some wins against the nation's best.
