KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBCO Heat women's basketball team showed their competitive spirit on Friday night at the UBCO Gymnasium as they rallied from a 13-point third-quarter deficit but ultimately fell 63-31 to the Calgary Dinos.
Midway through the third quarter, the Heat found themselves down 43-30. However, the team used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to grab a 59-57 lead.
Calgary would respond, scoring six of the final eight points of the contest to come away with the win.
First-year forward
Sydney Lewis had an outstanding performance coming off the bench for the Heat, scoring a game-high 18 points to go along with eight rebounds.
Kanani Coon added 12 points and four rebounds while
Tsuki Tsuzuki posted 10 points and four rebounds.
Lilia Skumatova led the way for the visiting Dinos with 15 points.
UBCO now turns their attention to their regular season opener as they get set to host the rival Thompson Rivers WolfPack in the first of three Presidents' Cup meetings this year.
