WINNIPEG -
Jaeli Ibbetson, playing her final regular season game for her UBC Okanagan women's basketball squad, recorded the program's first ever triple-double as the Heat completed the weekend sweep of the hosting Manitoba Bisons, winning Saturday's match 85-64.
After yesterday's near triple double, the Kelowna, B.C., native secured the 11th triple-double in Canada West history with her 10th assist on a
Temi Aina (Kamloops, B.C.) basket in the fourth quarter. Ibbetson, a fourth-year forward, totaled 23 points, 13 boards, 10 assists and three blocks in the match as she joins a club of only eight other players to record a triple-double in the conference's 51-year history.
"I'd been one assist short yesterday [of a triple-double], and a few assists short a few other times. It's been a goal of mine but I never tried too hard to go for the stats," said Ibbetson after the game.
Â
"When I heard that in my last regular season game, it was pretty special."
Also building on an impressive weekend was
Lauren Foullong of Orangeville, Ont. The third-year sharp shooter drained a conference record tying nine threes on Friday and came flying out the gates making her first five three-point attempts in the first half of Saturday's match. Foullong would finish the game with six makes from deep, for a total of 15 on the weekend.
With Ibbetson and Foullong leading the charge, the Heat won their 11th game of the season, setting a new program record for most wins in a single season. UBCO topped 10-win seasons set in both the 2015-16 and 2022-23.
