Box Score 1 CALGARY – The UBC Okanagan Heat women's basketball team split a pair of exhibition contests in Calgary this weekend, knocking off the Lethbridge Pronghorns 64-60 before falling to the host Mount Royal Cougars 76-53.
The Heat used a big first quarter on Friday against the Pronghorns, jumping out to a 23-8 lead thanks to a 21-0 run, and never looked back en route to the victory.
Rookie guard Tsui Tsuzuki, playing in her hometown, sparked the Heat in the win with 13 points, four assists and four steals.
Lily Pink of Kelowna, B.C., and
Kelsey Falk of Vernon, B.C., each chipped in with 11 points while Pink added 11 rebounds for the double-double.
On Saturday, the Heat, who were shorthanded for the match, were upended by the tournament host Cougars.
Pink led the Heat in scoring in the match, hitting double figures for the second straight game with 10.
UBCO will close out their preseason schedule on home court as they host the MacEwan Griffins for a pair of contests on Thursday, October 17 and Friday, October 18.
