Men’s soccer falls on the road to UFV

Heat eliminated from Canada West playoff contention following loss to Cascades

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan Heat men's soccer team suffered a 6-0 loss on the road to the UFV Cascades on Sunday afternoon.
 
With the defeat, the Heat were eliminated from Canada West playoff contention.
 
Kevin Mailand of Hanover, Germany, Gurnaj Sidhu of Surrey, B.C., and Roland Mansell of Chilliwack, B.C., led the attack for the Cascades scoring a pair of goals each.
 
Shots on goal in the match favoured UFV 16-6, including 9-2 on net.
 
With the loss, the Heat sit with a 2-8-3 record while UFV improves to 7-3-2 on the season.
 
UBCO will now return home to wrap up their regular season schedule with a pair of contests against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack. The two games represent the first two meetings between the Heat and WolfPack this season in the annual Presidents' Cup competition.
 
Game one of the weekend doubleheader is set for Friday, October 11 at 5:30 p.m. at Nonis Sports Field and tickets to the game are free for all fans.
