KELOWNA, B.C. - The UBC Okanagan Heat men's and women's golf teams took an early lead in the Coquihalla Cup, winning the first half of the annual event against the UFV Cascades, held earlier this week at Black Mountain Golf Club.
Day one on Monday saw the Heat fall narrowly, 3.5-4.5, in four ball matches but despite trailing, the team would bounce back on day two. Seven Heat golfers secured wins in singles play, helping UBCO claim an 8.5-4.5 victory in this portion of the event.
Thanks to their strong showing in singles,
the Heat secured a 12-9 advantage over the Cascades, that have positioned them well for the next stage of the tournament to be hosted by UFV in the Spring in Abbotsford.
Both Kevin Lee (Markham, Ont.) and Lauren Nedo (Coquitlam, B.C.) were a perfect 2-0-0 over the two days, with Lee winning 2&1 in singles play while Nedo captured her singles event 1 up.
