KAMLOOPS, B.C - Playing their first road game of 2024, the UBC Okanagan Heat's women's volleyball team dropped a straight sets decision to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack on Friday night 21-25, 18-25 and 19-25.Â
The Heat would rely on their serving in this contest as the team picked up seven aces in the match. Leading the way was fifth-year outside hitter and native of Mandaguari, Brazil, Helen Lacava, who would lock down four of the Heat's seven serving aces on Friday night. Adding to the tally was Amaya Perry, the fourth year outside hitter from Chin, Alta., as she continued her climb up the Canada West all-time record books with the 127th ace of her career, moving her into the Top 20 in conference history.

Despite the setback, the Heat would not make it easy for the hosts picking up 29 digs paired with 12 blocks at the net.
PRESIDENTS' CUP UPDATE
With the victory, TRU prevents the Heat from claiming this year's women's Presidents' Cup trophy. However, UBCO still leads the season series 3-1 and will look to claim the trophy on home court tomorrow afternoon with women's basketball.
TOP PERFORMERS
Hellen Lacava - UBCO
The fifth-year outside hitter had a strong performance on Friday night, locking down four serving aces, eight kills and five digs as she led the team in points with 12 in the match.
Brooklyn Olfert - TRU
The third-year outside hitter and product of Winnipeg, Man., would lead the match in attacks, nailing 14 kills, an assist, a block and two serving aces as she picked up 16.5 points on the evening.
WHERE THEY SIT
With the loss, UBCO drops back to 6-10 on the season, remaining in ninth in the Canada West standings while TRU moves one game back of the Heat at 5-9.
