Women's basketball topped by No. 1-ranked Huskies

After a close opening 10 minutes, Saskatchewan shows their prowess to pull away from the Heat

SASKATOON - The UBC Okanagan Heat ended their four-game road trip with an 88-48 loss to the U SPORTS No. 1 ranked Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday at the PAC.

Similar to Friday's outing, the Heat were able to keep things close in the first half before the Huskies pulled away in the second half en route to their 26th win in their last 27 Canada West regular season matches.

UBCO were down just 15-14 after the opening frame, and held the lead briefly after a Rachel Hettinga (Kelowna, B.C.) basket opened the second quarter.
It proved to be another strong performance from the Huskies defence, who held an opponent to under 50 points for the fourth time this season. With 25 takeaways, the Huskies capitalized with 37 points off turnovers.

Kelowna B.C.'s Jaeli Ibbetson led all Heat scorers with 12 points, while Calgary's Carly Ahlstrom a game-high 20 for her Huskies.

WHERE THEY SIT
The loss drops the Heat to 5-7 on the season while the Saskatchewan's perfect record stays intact at 12-0.
