Women’s soccer drops decision to No. 6-ranked Spartans on the road

Heat unable to make up ground on Trinity Western in the Pacific division standings as they fall 3-0 in Langley

LANGLEY, B.C. - The UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer team dropped just their third game of the season on Friday night as they fell 3-0 to the U SPORTS No. 6-ranked Trinity Western Spartans on the road.

The Heat put up a strong fight during the first half, creating significant pressure up front for the opposing team and even threatening with a couple of corners. Stefanie Young had a notable moment when she just nearly tested the opposing keeper with a left-footed strike in the 20th minute.

However, it was the Spartans that got the breakthrough when Laren Spiller, a Surrey, B.C. product, capitalized on two lucky bounces from loose balls, resulting in back-to-back goals for the opposing team in the 32nd and 45th minutes. This put Trinity Western ahead 2-0 at halftime and the game stayed that way until a misplaced pass ultimately led to a third Spartans goal, securing them the victory.
