Women's soccer drop decision to Dinos on Homecoming weekend

The Heat suffered just their second loss of the season on Friday, losing 3-0 to the visiting Dinos

KELOWNA, B.C. -  Playing under the lights on Homecoming weekend, the UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to the University of Calgary Dinos Friday evening on Nonis Sports Field.

With an enthusiastic crowd behind them, the Heat kicked off their match with a strong start. In a mere two minutes, Abigail Taneda of West Kelowna, B.C., unleashed a swift shot towards the net, only to see it turned away by Dinos keeper Katie French of Calgary.

Despite the hot start, the Heat would fall behind in the 12th minute with Dinos' rookie Danica Pullishy of Calgary, capitalized on a UBCO turnover and fired home to give the visitors the lead, an advantage they would take into halftime.

Any hopes of a Heat comeback were quickly squashed early in the second half as the Dinos scored twice in the opening five minutes of the half, handing UBCO just their second defeat of the season.
