Calgary native brings club and provincial team experience to UBCO for 2023-24

KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan Heat women's volleyball team announced on Wednesday that outside hitter Korey Jenkins will be joining the Heat for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Jenkins, a native of Calgary, will be the second recruit suiting up for the Heat in the Fall after middle Marija Jospiovic of West Kelowna, B.C., was announced back in March.

"Korey will make an excellent addition to our Heat squad," commented Manuel on his latest addition to his roster. "She has already shown herself to be a top performer at the club and provincial team level and we fully believe that she will be an impact player at the U SPORTS level. Korey is a driven student-athlete and an outstanding teammate, and we wouldn't be happier to welcome her to the program."

The 6-1 outside hitter bring a wealth of experience club and provincial team experience to UBCO. A member of the Dinos Volleyball Club, Jenkins spent the last two seasons as a member of Team Alberta, earning a silver medal at the Canada Cup in 2022. She also suited up for Team Calgary at the 2020 Alberta Winter Games where she also won silver.

"I chose UBCO and the Heat because I feel it is a great fit for me both as an athlete and academically," said Jenkins on her decision to come to Kelowna. "I was drawn to the coaching style and positive team dynamic at UBCO, as well as the variety of academic programs offered. I'm very excited to start my post-secondary volleyball career with the Heat."

Jenkins, an academic honour roll student at West Island College, will be completing her Bachelor of Management degree while at UBCO.
