KELOWNA, B.C. - On the strength of a record-setting performance from forward Jaeli Ibbetson, the UBC Okanagan Heat women's basketball team clinched a spot in the 2023 Canada West playoffs thanks to an 80-65 win over the Victoria Vikes on Friday evening at The Furnace.

The Heat were led by another outstanding performance from Ibbetson, a Kelowna, B.C., native, who became the Heat's single season scoring record holder in the contest.

With 12 first half points, Ibbetson had tied Sarah Allison's record of 296 points in a season. A three-pointer early in the third quarter helped the third-year forward break the record and become the first player in Heat history to record 300-plus point in a single Canada West season.
