HEAT THIS WEEK: Basketball on the road while cross country runs at nationals

The Heat basketball teams open up a four-game road trip in Lethbridge, while cross country athletes are set to compete at the U SPORTS Championships in London

KELOWNA, B.C. - The UBC Okanagan Heat's basketball teams open up a four-game road trip with back-to-back games against the Lethbridge Pronghorns in Alberta, while seven of our cross country athletes are gearing up for the U SPORTS Championships hosted by the Western Mustangs at the Thames Valley Golf Course in London, Ont.

ON THE ROAD
Women's Basketball

November 10 vs Lethbridge Pronghorns - 5 pm (PT) - Lethbridge, Alta.
November 11 vs Lethbridge Pronghorns - 4 pm (PT) - Lethbridge, Alta.

The Heat women (1-1) are on the road for a double-header against the Lethbridge Pronghorns (0-2). After a commanding 89-48 victory and a narrow 54-51 loss against the Winnipeg Wesmen, the Heat aim to bounce back as they face the winless Pronghorns. Keep an eye on fourth-year guard Kelsey Falk, who delivered an impressive 18-point, 14-rebound double-double in the Heat's last game, en route to being named a Heat Athlete of the Week.

Men's Basketball
November 10 vs Lethbridge Pronghorns - 7 pm (PT) - Lethbridge, Alta.
November 11 vs Lethbridge Pronghorns - 6 pm (PT) - Lethbridge, Alta.

The Heat men's basketball (0-2) is all set for a challenging double-header on the road against the Lethbridge Pronghorns (0-2) in Alberta. Despite recent injuries and a short-handed lineup, the Heat displayed remarkable determination and resiliancy last weekend against the nationally-ranked Winnipeg Wesmen. Guard Jalen Shirley is a player to watch as he sits third in Canada West in scoring after the opening weekend of the year and will be a key player as the Heat shoot to get into the win column.

Women's Cross Country
November 12 - U SPORTS Cross Country Championship - 9 am (PT) - London, Ont.

UBCO is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Canada West Championships as they gear up for the upcoming U SPORTS Cross Country Championship in London, Ontario this weekend. Keep a close eye on standout athletes like Tori Bouck, honored as a Canada West 2nd Team All-Star after a 13th-place finish at the conference championship, along with Brooke Lawlor and Kristen Smith, who will also be representing the Heat in the race at the Thames Valley Golf Course this weekend.

Men's Cross Country
November 12 - U SPORTS Cross Country Championship - 10 am (PT) - London, Ont.

The Heat men's team will be sending four runners to this year's U SPORTS Championships. Connor Baerg returns to nationals after posting UBCO's best-ever men's finish at the event two years ago in Quebec City, a 60th place showing. Meanwhile, three of his teammates will be making their debut at U SPORTS including Russell Pearson, Isaac Baker and Christopher Crowe.
