Men's basketball earns weekend sweep of Pronghorns

The Heat seal a two-game win streak with a 76-71 victory, downing Lethbridge on the road once again

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - The UBC Okanagan Heat men's basketball team made it a perfect weekend on the road as they won a back-and-forth match against the Lethbridge Pronghorns 76-71, mirroring their impressive performance from the previous night and earning a weekend sweep.

The first quarter set the tone, with the Heat leading 19-14 and they were able to carry that momentum throughout the match.

Hafth Moallin of Mississauga, Ont., who played a crucial role with a game-winner the night before, elevated the stakes by contributing 10 crucial points just in the first half as they Heat held a six-point lead at the break.

The third quarter saw UBCO extend their lead to 13 points. However, the Pronghorns, led by Kymani Pollard of Gardena, Cali., clawed their way back and took the lead midway through the fourth-quarter.

The Heat would find their nerve down the stretch and managed to ice the win late thanks to a pair of free throws from Jas Dhudwal of Surrey, B.C.
Lamine Conde of Montreal, emerged as a pivotal player tonight, significantly contributing to the Heat's victory thanks to his three-point shooting.
Dhudwal's influence also was noticed again, as he grabbed 13 rebounds, closing the door on any chances for the Pronghorns to capitalize on second-chance points.

Like Conde this evening, Elan Kimpton-Cuellar and Hafith Moallin were also double-digit scorers for the Heat, finishing with 16 points each.
