Welcome to our Heat Competitive Sports Club weekend recap where we'll look back at the results for our softball and men's rugby teams.
Men's Rugby
The Heat secured their second consecutive undefeated regular season thanks to a 36-23 victory over the University of Saskatchewan on Saturday in Calgary.
UBCO used an impressive opening half to take the win as they roared out to a 36-8 lead before cruising to the win.
Finn Hussey of Kelowna, B.C., and
Jef Vreys of Kelowna, B.C., both scored multiple tries for the Heat while
Jean-Louis Desgouttes of Hong Kong, and
Zachary Brimmage of St. Alberta, Alta., scored singles.
Desgouttes also finished with three converts, giving him 11 points in the game and a team-best 71 for the season.
Brenden McElhinney of Langley, B.C., chipped in with six tackles on defence.
Vreys finishes the regular season with a team-high five tries while Desgouttes and Hussey weren't far behind with four each.
UBCO will now prepare to host the Prairie U Men's Rugby Championship in two weeks' time in Kelowna.
