Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s soccer’s comeback attempt stifled by Huskies

KELOWNA, B.C. - A Megan Sun goal and a blistering second-half effort fell just short as the Saskatchewan Huskies topped the UBC Okanagan Heat women's soccer team 3-1 Friday evening on Nonis Sports Field.

Megan Sun's 73rd-minute marker cut into the Huskies' two-goal first-half lead to put the score at 2-1 for the Huskies as the rookie forward from Langley, B.C., netted her first career Heat goal.

UBCO controlled the play through most of the second half, outshooting the Huskies 10-2, but ultimately the effort would fall short as the Heat were unable to close the gap.

TOP PERFORMERS

Megan Sun - UBCO Heat

Sun was the most active player on the pitch after subbing in during the second half. Along with her goal, she fired four shots, two on net, in 45 minutes, showing off her speed and offensive talent.

Fourth-year midfielder Payton Izsak buried her third and fourth goals of the young season in the Huskies' win. The Prince Albert, Sask., product recorded three shots on net and now sits tied for fourth in conference scoring.
