Emerson paces men's soccer to comfortable win over Lethbridge

Second-year forward Malachi Emerson tallied two second-half goals, along with an assist, to lead the UBCO Heat to a 4-1 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns on Sunday afternoon.

KELOWNA, B.C. - The UBC Okanagan Heat closed off Homecoming weekend with three more points on Sunday afternoon as they took home a 4-1 win over the Lethbridge Pronghorns.

The Heat came out to play on this beautiful Sunday afternoon at Nonis Sports Field, looking to extend their point streak to three matches. With that in mind, UBCO hit the pitch with ambition and drive. Looking to find an early lead, Jordan Robillard, a first-year from Mission, B.C., buried his first career goal in the fifth minute after the ball ricocheted off a Pronghorns defender and fell right to his feet.

Hayden Johnson, a second-year from White Rock, B.C., would extend the lead shortly afterward with a fantastic drive towards the net, before firing a shot top corner resulting in his first career goal to double the Heat's lead.

Hoping to get back into the game, the Pronghorns found a late goal in the first half to close the hosts advantage to 2-1.

The second half would belong to the Heat and Malachi Emerson, a second-year from Surrey, B.C. Emerson found the back of the net twice to secure the win as he left the pitch with two goals and an assist on Sunday afternoon.
