Women's volleyball split weekend with straight sets win over Huskies

A balanced offensive attack, propelled by setter Abigail Dueck, saw the Heat run past the Huskies on Saturday

SASKATOON, Sask. - The UBC Okanagan Heat women's volleyball team snapped their four-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon thanks to a dominant offensive performance as they hit .470 as a team in a straight sets win over the Saskatchewan Huskies.

The Heat were particularly dominant in the opening set as they were connecting on many of their attack opportunities. UBCO fired home 20 kills in the opening frame as they took the first set 25-22.

Not letting the Huskies take a breath, the Heat started the second how they ended the first. Using their energy to take control of the set, the Heat opened up a 12-point gap as they cruised to a 25-13 set victory.
Eyeing a final win before the holiday break, the Heat were relentless in the final frame. Leading 21-19, the Heat got three more important kills to close out the final set 25-20.
