Women's basketball taken out by No. 1 ranked Cougars

Backcourt duo of Misskey and Belmore power Regina to lopsided win over the Heat

KELOWNA, B.C. - The UBC Okanagan Heat women's basketball team got a full taste of the U SPORTS No. 1-ranked Regina Cougars Friday night at the Furnace taking a 95-54 loss on home court.

Regina's lethal backcourt of Cara Misskey (Warman, Sask.) and Jade Belmore (Regina, Sask.) pushed their team to the decisive victory. Misskey, dropped a game-high 28 points, while Belmore poured in 17 in just 22 minutes, adding seven rebounds and six assists.

For the Heat, Kelsey Falk of Vernon, B.C. had a team-high 14 points with seven rebounds, while Abby Smith, a Winnipeg native, helped with eight points off 4-of-7 shooting.
TOP PERFORMERS
Tessa Burton - UBCO
The third-year from Coquitlam, B.C., earned her minutes on Friday, bringing energy and efficiency to both ends of the court. Burton recorded eight points and eight rebounds in 11 minutes on the floor, adding two blocks and a steal.

Cara Misskey - Regina
Misskey, a second-year guard, was fantastic in the Cougars' win. With Belmore sitting out most of the first half with foul trouble, Misskey took over, with 24 of her 28 points in the game's opening 20 minutes. She would also finish with five rebounds and six assists.

WHERE THEY SIT
The Heat move to 1-2 against nationally ranked opponents this season, sitting at 5-4 on the year as the Cougars win their seventh straight to open the season.
