Women's volleyball drops straight sets decision to Wesmen

Despite another big performance from Sydney Grills, the Heat suffered their second straight setback on Friday night

WINNIPEG - The UBC Okanagan Heat's women's volleyball team fell to the Winnipeg Wesmen on the road in three sets (27-29, 21-25, 20-25) on Friday evening.

The first set was a tight affair between the two teams as they went back and forth throughout the set. Eventually, the two teams pushed past 25 points and it was the hometown squad the found two consecutive points, securing the set victory after the two teams were tied at 27.

Looking to build off the opening set, Sydney Grills (Vancouver) put down two kills followed by back-to-back aces in the opening second set to take an early four point advantage.

However, the Wesmen found five consecutive points to lead them to their second set victory, 25-21.

Holding a two set lead, the Wesmen fought another tight battle with the Heat but ultimately took the third set and the match.
