Men's volleyball taken down in four sets on the road

WINNIPEG – Despite winning the opening set, the UBC Okanagan Heat men's volleyball team were halted by the Winnipeg Wesmen in four sets on Friday night in Winnipeg.

The Heat would start off strong, taking the first set 25-21. UBCO would lead through most of the set, building a five-point lead when Teo Ardanaz (Tsawwassen, B.C.) would earn two back-to-back service aces to put the Heat up 14-9. They would hold on from there to grab the early advantage in the match.
The Wesmen would respond to the Heat's first-set win, taking the next two sets 25-16 and 25-15. The fourth set was shaping up to be a similar story, with the Wesmen putting as much as seven points between them and the Heat, leading 20-13. The Heat battled back, however, closing the seven-point gap to as few as four points, but ultimately the late game push would not be enough as the Wesmen took the set 25-20 and the match.
