Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Seyara Campbell

Men's Volleyball falls to Dinos in evenly matched game

Despite the loss, the two teams would each have level showings in the match, with total kills, attacks, digs, and assists for each team being within five points of each other.

CALGARY, ALTA. – The UBCO Heat men's volleyball team fell to the Calgary Dinos in four sets on Saturday night in Calgary, despite the evenly balanced performances from the visiting Heat.

Despite the loss, the two teams would each have level showings in the match, with total kills, attacks, digs, and assists for each team being within five points of each other. Renn Petryk (Edmonton, Alta.), Brady Cole (Clarenville, Nfld.), and Seba Manuel (Kelowna, B.C.) would all be key elements in the match, contributing equally matched showings in the losing effort.

Bouncing back from a 25-21 first set loss, Petryk and Cole both shone in the second set, with Petryk contributing six kills and Cole tallying five to lead the Heat to their lone set win of 25-21. Manuel would take the offensive lead in the third set, throwing down five of his ten kills, all of which were assisted by Zach van Geel (Calgary, Alta.). who tallied 35 assists in the match. These efforts would ultimately fall short, however, as the Dinos took the third and fourth set 25-16.
TOP PERFORMERS

Brady Cole – UBCO
Cole, who would finish the night with a .545 hitting percent on his seven kills, would be a leader for the Heat's offensive efforts, propelling the squad to the second set win. The fourth-year middle would also add five blocks as well as three digs in his 10-point performance.

Louis Kunstmann – CGY
The second-year middle led the Dinos to their win over the Heat, finishing the match with 14 points, adding 10 kills for a .769 hitting percent.
