Women's volleyball get sweep, stays undefeated in Regina

The Heat moved to 2-0 on the regular season, and 9-0 overall, as they won in three sets over the Cougars

REGINA, Sask. - The UBC Okanagan Heat women's volleyball team secured a weekend sweep of the Regina Cougars on Saturday afternoon as they recorded their second-straight three-set victory 25-23, 25-22, 25-15.

After a perfect preseason, the Heat have continued to roll to open the Canada West regular season and on this afternoon were led by Red Deer, Alberta's Jade Bussard, who racked up a game-high 14 kills.

UBCO hit .312 percent as a team, ousting Regina's .182 percent, as the Heat moved to 9-1 on the road all-time against the Cougars.

Jade Bussard - UBCO Heat

The fourth-year hitter led all players with 14 kills in the game on 35 attacks. She also potted two aces and three digs in the Heat's second win of the season.

Nya Chiek - Regina Cougars
Chiek, a third-year, was once again at the forefront of the Cougars attack. She led her team with eight kills, two aces and six digs.

WHERE THEY SIT
The win for UBCO keeps them perfect on their campaign at 2-0, as the Cougars will have to wait to get their first win of the season, sitting at 0-2.

UP NEXT
Next weekend, the Heat will be in Kelowna for their 2022-23 home opener as they get set to face last season's Canada West bronze medalists, the Mount Royal Cougars. First serve is set for 5 p.m. at The Furnace with tickets for the game being available at the door on game day.
