Box Score KELOWNA, B.C.- Kelsey Falk's 12-point second quarter helped push the UBCO Heat past the UNBC Timberwolves by a score of 82-65 Friday night at The Furnace.
Falk, a third-year guard from Vernon, B.C. finished the game with a team-high 20 points, adding eight rebounds in UBCO's second straight win over UNBC.
Falk would shoot 8-of-10 from the field and 4-of-6 from the foul line in one of her most efficient games of the season.
Vancouver's Surprise Munie, the Heat's leading scorer, laid in 16 points and grabbed seven boards, while Alessia Brutto, the Italian import, chipped in for 11 points off the bench.
Aiko Williams of North Vancouver, B.C., also brought energy off the bench for her Heat squad going 3-of-5 from three-point land.
The crucial win gets UBCO back to an even (6-6) on the year as they hold their first-round bye position as a top-nine team in the conference. As for UNBC, their slide continues, as their fifth straight loss drops them to 4-6 on the year.
For UNBC, Alina Shakirova was their top scorer. The Russian guard had 21 points off of 8-of-16 shooting. Svetlana Boykova, also from Russia, had a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double in the loss.
The Heat would fire 42.6 percent from the floor in the win, with UNBC hitting on 40.3 percent of their shots. UBCO would capitalize on the Timberwolves' 26 turnovers with 29 points off of UNBC giveaways.
The two teams complete their three-game mini-series Saturday afternoon at The Furnace at 4 p.m. Tickets are available 30 minutes before tip-off.
