Early Lead for UBC Okanagan Seals Fate for University of Calgary

University of Calgary fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 5-2 loss to UBC Okanagan on Saturday. UBC Okanagan scored on a sacrifice fly by Jessica Douglas and a stolen base by Kasey Wright in the second inning. University of Calgary lost despite out-hitting UBC Okanagan six to five. UBC Okanagan got things started in the second inning when Douglas's sac fly scored one run for UBC Okanagan. UBC Okanagan scored three runs in the fourth inning. UBC Okanagan scored its runs on a stolen base by Jessica PorterJessica Podskalny earned the victory on the rubber for UBC Okanagan. The ace surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one. Maddie Markey took the loss for University of Calgary. The pitcher allowed three hits and five runs over three and a third innings, striking out one. Brooke Stoilen went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead University of Calgary in hits. Sheyanne Lawrence led UBC Okanagan with two hits in four at bats. UBC Okanagan was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Gabriela Isaak had the most chances in the field with nine.
