Box Score KELOWNA, B.C. – The UBC Okanagan men's volleyball team returned to their home court for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign, earning their first victory of the season against the UFV Cascades in five sets on Friday night.
Despite winning the first two sets 25-18 and 25-12, the Cascades made the Heat fight for the win as the visiting squad took the next two sets 20-25 and 23-25. Ultimately, the Heat would dominate in the final set, only allowing UFV four points as they sealed the deal 15-4.
Maxwell Heppell (Langley, B.C.), Cameron Vanderveen (Abbotsford, B.C.), and Teo Ardanaz (Tsawwassen, B.C.) would prove to be the Heat's dream scoring combination. Heppell finished the night with 13 kills, nine digs, and two blocks. Vanderveen would put up 10 kills, eight digs, and two blocks in the winning effort, followed by Ardanaz with 10 kills, two digs, and four blocks.
In the losing effort for the Cascades, Nimo Benne would put up 18 kills and seven digs while Ryan Adams would contribute eight kills, five digs, and five blocks, and Noah Bouius would add eight kills, and seven blocks on the night.
The two teams will return to The Furnace on Saturday night at 5 p.m. as the Heat hope to repeat tonight's successful campaign at home.
