Box Score KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Madelyn Hettinga's .800 hitting percent led the UBCO Heat women's volleyball team to a three-set victory over the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack on Friday night, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-10.
In all three sets, the Heat worked quickly to put a solid gap between them and the 'Pack. Ultimately, that would prove to be too much for the young TRU squad as the closest the home squad would come would be an eight point deficit at the end of the first set.
Hailing from Kelowna, B.C., Hettinga shone on the court, putting up eight kills and four service aces in her total .800 hitting percent on the night. Sydney Grills of Vancouver, once again was a key player in the Heat's victory as she added 13 kills, two service aces, and three digs.
Seray Altay (Istanbul, Turkey) led the charge for the Wolfpack, contributing six kills and five digs, followed by Faith Christensen (Edmonton, Alta.) with four kills.
The win puts the Heat women up 2-0-2 in President's Cup action and increases their record in the Canada West standings to 3-0 on the season.
The two teams will be back in Kamloops for more President's Cup action on Saturday at 2 p.m. All action can be watched live on CanadaWest.tv presented by Co-op.
