KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Although the UBC Okanagan men's basketball team kept pace with the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack for much of the evening on Saturday, they would ultimately come up short in the end, dropping a 77-72 decision on the road in President's Cup action.

The two evenly matched squads would trade the lead back-and-forth throughout the game as the Heat pushed for their first victory of the season until the final buzzer sounded.

In the final minute of play, both teams were tied up at 71 a piece and traded a one point lead up until the final seven seconds when TRU's Jaden Lalonde (Kelowna, B.C.) would sink two free throws to put the score at 75-72. Another pair of successful free throws for Asher Mayan (Langley, B.C.) would give the 'Pack a five-point lead over the Heat as the clock ran out. 

The Heat's offence was led by Imoudu Ibrahim of Calgary, all night as he finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Gus Goerzen of Roberts Creek, B.C., and Las Vegas, Nevada product Jesse Vogel would also contribute to the Heat's offensive efforts throughout the night. Goerzen would sink two treys, contributing to his total 12 points and four rebounds, while Vogel would finish with 11 points and four boards.

Brendan Sullivan of Mill Bay, B.C., was a key contributor to the 'Pack's winning effort as he put up 30 points and nine boards, followed by Mayan with 15 points and four rebounds.

The Heat will travel to Victoria next weekend as they look for their first win of the season against the Vikes on November 5th and 6th. All action can be watched live on CanadaWest.tv presented by Co-op.
