KAMLOOPS, B.C. – Thanks a big night from Cameron Vanderveen, the UBC Okanagan Heat men's volleyball team won their third consecutive preseason contest on Wednesday evening, knocking off the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack in four sets (25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-16).
Vanderveen, a native of Abbotsford, B.C., was dangerous all over the court for the Heat as he recorded nine kills, four service aces and 2.5 blocks during the contest.
Maxwell Heppell of Langley, B.C., also shone for the Heat with 10 kills while Noah Carlson of Sylvan Lake, Alta., and Téo Ardanaz of Tsawwassen, B.C., chipped in with eight and seven kills respectively.
The Heat will look to carry their momentum into their final non-conference games this weekend as they get set to take on perennial powerhouse, the Trinity Western Spartans, in two games this weekend in Langley, B.C. The first match is set for Friday, October 22 at 7 p.m. while the second game will go on Saturday, October 23 at 7 p.m.
