Box Score KELOWNA, BC - UBC Okanagan Heat women's basketball team has two other USPORTS schools on campus this weekend to tip-off with some preseason play in Kelowna.
The Calgary Dinos, another Canada West team and the York Lions from the OUA (Ontario University Association) are the three squads in the Okanagan that will play in four games over the next four days to get the preseason underway.
Fore the two Canada West teams, UBCO and Calgary, this will be their first look at any competition, while the York Lions have two wins under their belts already, defeating their Alumni team and the George Brown Huskies from the Ontario College League.
The Dinos will travel to Kamloops to play Thompson Rivers on Saturday, Sept. 30th.
This will be the third year that the UBCO team will be coached by Claire Meadows - who spent her summer coaching internationally with the Canadian U19 Women's National Team - as the coach looks to replace the loss of several quality veterans, including the schools all-time leading scorer in Emily Kanester, with a solid group of new players.
