Rookie golfer Oakley Mayner picked up his first career university-level win as he took home the individual title from the Las Vegas Warrior Invitational last week, helping the men’s golf team pick up their fourth team victory of the season.
 
Mayner won in exciting fashion, shooting five-under par 67 in the third round to earn a spot in a playoff with Winona State’s Peyton Coahran with both golfers sitting at six-under par 210. The playoff was a battle that extended to six holes before Mayner came out on top with a birdie on sixth playoff hole to take home the victory.
 
This marks the first time this season, and first time in his career, that Mayner has been named an Athlete of the Week.
