  • Title
    Assistant Coach

A lifelong fastpitch softball player, Josh grew up at the ballpark watching teams from the NorWest and local leagues and gained an extensive understanding of the game by listening to and practicing with top caliber players.

During his 25+ year playing career he has accomplished many milestones including: winning multiple league and provincial championships; participating in Junior Nationals, ISCs and Western Canadians (Silver & Bronze medals); and winning both the Senior Men’s National Championship in PEI (2001) with the Victoria Travelers ball club and the Worlds Master Games in 2016.

Josh has travelled to tournaments across Canada and the U.S. and also played a season in New Zealand. Furthermore, he’s played against top international teams from: Australia, Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico and New Zealand.

Fastpitch has always been his passion and favourite sport and he’s continuing his involvement in the game by moving into the coaching side as his playing career winds down.

Josh also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (SFU) and a Bachelor’s degree (TWU) in English and has significant management experience including: administrative duties, evaluation of individual and team performance, scheduling, sports metrics and training protocols. His experience, leadership and communication skills speak to his ability to manage and maintain high standards, which will translate well to his coaching career with the burgeoning UBCO Softball program.
