MEN'S GOLF

Sunday, Sept. 13 - Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Canadian Collegiate Invitational | Oviinbyrd Golf Club - Foot's Bay, Ont. | Live Scoring

The men are coming off their first national championship in program history at the Canadian University/College Championship in June 2026, finishing with 19-under par over three rounds. This week, men's golf will make their first swings of the season as they head out to Foots Bay, Ont., to compete in the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, a tournament conducted by Golf Canada at the Oviinbyrd Golf Club, where they will be up against NCAA Division I schools such as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Missouri Tigers, and Penn State Nitany Lions. UBCO qualified for this prestigious event through their win at the Canadian University/College Championship.

The Heat will look to returning golfers such as Oakley Mayner, who shot -8 to earn a silver medal and All-Canadian honours at the Canadian University/College Championship last season, as well as Andrew Rouble (-3), Ryan Gillis (-2), and Chris Jo (+13). With new talent added to the roster, this will also give head coach Clay Stothers a look at what this team can bring to the course this coming year.

Softball hits the road again this weekend, heading to Saskatoon for five games in two days. The Heat sit with a 6-1-1 record following last weekend in Calgary, winning three of the four games they played. This weekend, they will open against the Dinos (5-3-0), who were the only team to break their undefeated run last weekend in a close 8-7 battle.

Fourth-year first base/third base Emmy Bonsville shined at bat last weekend. In the 12-2 win over SAIT, Bonsville notched two doubles, bringing in a total of three RBIs to lead UBCO. First-year Willa Bonsall also excelled at the plate. In the SAIT game, she hit a homer, helping her later achieve Athlete of the Week honours. Against Calgary on Saturday, both players drove in two runs each, with Bonsall having the biggest impact of the inning, tripling in the top of the fourth to help flip the game in favour of Okanagan. In the win over Saskatchewan on Sunday, both players helped extend the lead, recording two runs in the top of the second from RBI singles.

UBCO will also face Saskatchewan (4-4-0), who they defeated 10-6 last weekend, followed by Lethbridge (4-4-1), who they defeated twice this season and hold a four-game win streak against, alongside a 15-2-1 all-time conference record. Next will be Regina (3-4-1), who UBCO have beat 7-1 this season, while holding a six-game win streak and a 15-3 all-time record. To close out the weekend, they will face Mount Royal (2-5-2), a team they have seen twice already, resulting in a 7-5 victory and a 4-4 tie, which has pushed their record against them to 11-0-1.
