Canada West announces 2026-27 soccer, volleyball and basketball schedules

Championship hosts also announced for golf and cross country for fall of 2026

KELOWNA, B.C. – This week, Canada West announced its 2026-27 schedules for soccer, basketball and volleyball, while also revealing the 2026 championship sports hosts for golf and cross country.
 
Kicking things off this fall will be the Heat women's and men's soccer programs as they get underway in late August and early September.
 
The UBCO men's team will open their 2026 season with four consecutive home games, starting with their home opener on Thursday, August 27 against the Trinity Western Spartans. The season-opening home stand will also see them host the Victoria Vikes, UBC Thunderbirds and Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
 
The team's remaining three home games will all be played in October as they face the Saskatchewan Huskies and UNBC Timberwolves. UBCO's final home game will be against the UFV Cascades on Graduating Seniors Day at Nonis Sports Field on Sunday, October 11.
 
Women's soccer begins their season at Nonis Sports Field with their home opener on Friday, September 4 against the UBC Thunderbirds and continues on Sunday, September 6 against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
 
Other home opponents in 2026 include the Trinity Western Spartans for a pair of matchups, along with the Victoria Vikes and UNBC Timberwolves. The team also wraps their regular season home schedule on Sunday, October 11 with their Graduating Seniors Day against the UFV Cascades.
 
Also happening in October this fall are the 2026 Canada West golf and cross country championships. The Lethbridge Pronghorns will host the conference golf championships on October 5 and 6 at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort where the Heat men will be looking for their third consecutive title.
 
The Calgary Dinos will then host the cross country championships at St. Mary's University on Saturday, October 31.
 
Men's and women's volleyball will hit the court for the first time in October as they host the Brandon Bobcats for their home-opening weekend on October 23 and 24. The Heat will also host the Saskatchewan Huskies and UFV Cascades in the first half of their schedule prior to the winter exam break.
 
The Heat men's game on Friday, November 13 against the Huskies will be a School Day Game as UBCO will welcome a large contingent of elementary and middle school children from across the Okanagan.
 
The second term for the volleyball teams will see them host the Mount Royal Cougars on January 29 and 30 before they wrap up the regular season at the UBCO Gymnasium against the UBC Thunderbirds on February 19 and 20. The teams' will host their Graduating Seniors Celebrations on Saturday, February 20.
 
Women's and men's basketball also get their season underway on their home floor at the UBCO Gymnasium on Friday, October 30 against the UNBC Timberwolves.
 
The Heat will also battle the UBC Thunderbirds, UFV Cascades and a pair of games against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack in the first term. The Presidents' Cup showdowns with the WolfPack will wrap up the fall schedule on Friday, December 4 and Saturday, December 5.
 
UBCO opens 2027 at home with a matchup against the Trinity Western Spartans on January 15 and 16.  The teams' final games at The Furnace will be on February 5 and 6 against the Victoria Vikes, with Graduating Seniors Celebration set for Saturday, February 6.
