The Heat enter the 2024 season with momentum behind them after an impressive preseason that saw them win twice and pick up a draw in four matches. UBCO scored eight times in four games led by the duo of
Malachi Emerson of Surrey, B.C., and
Oliver Deveau of Vancouver who each scored three times.
Head coach
Dante Zanatta will be leaning on a veteran core to lead this year's squad as they look to return to the Canada West playoffs 2024. Emerson, along with fellow seniors
Aidan Young of Toronto,
Zack MacInnes of Kelowna, B.C.,
Alex Sol of Langley, B.C., and
Jacob York of Port Coquitlam, B.C., will be leaned upon to provide leadership and experience across the starting 11.
UBCO has 10 new faces on their roster this season, including nine rookies and a transfer. Keep an eye out for rookie forward
Aidan Synnuck of Sidmey, B.C., who scored once during the preseason, along with 6-5 rookie defender
Tavin Williams of Victoria.
The Heat will face a pair of tough opponents to open the season as UBC and Victoria finished first and second respectively in the Canada West Pacific division a season ago.
