KELOWNA, B.C. - The anticipated home openers for the volleyball programs are the highlight of the Heat's schedule this week while men's soccer ends their year at home. Men's and women's basketball take on out-of-conference opponents as they close out the preseason.

Led by fifth-year captain
Teo Ardanaz (Tsawwassen, B.C.), the Heat start their season at home against the visiting Wesmen. The young squad will look to improve from their seven wins last season, as U SPORT All-Rookie team member
Seba Manuel (Kelowna, B.C.) prepares for his sophomore year in white, blue, and gold. Last year's kill per set leader,
Renn Petryk (Edmonton, Alta.), returns for his third season with UBCO.
Women's Volleyball

The Heat women come flying into the regular season after winning eight of their nine preseason matches. After losing their top-two point getters from a season ago, the Heat will lean on fourth-year hitter
Amaya Perry (Chin, Alta.) to bolster their attack. The Heat are 13-7 all-time at home against the Wesmen and recently defeated Winnipeg in five sets to win the Bisons-Wesmen Classic during the preseason. The Heat's 13 wins last year was their most since 2017-18.

The Heat (3-10-0), eliminated from playoff contention, look to play spoilers as they host the Timberwolves (4-7-2) this weekend. The two matches are the final two games of UBCO's regular season. Third-year forward Malchi Emerson (Surrey, B.C.) leads his squad in goals (2), points (3), and shots (15) this year. Prior to Sunday's matchup, the Heat will recognize their three graduating seniors,

Men's Basketball
October 20th vs Toronto Varsity Blues - 1 PM - Montreal, Que.
October 21st vs Dalhousie Tigers - 11 AM - Montreal, Que.
October 22nd vs McGill Redbirds - 11 AM - Montreal, Que.
The Heat men get their final pre-season tune up before their regular season home opener in two weeks time. The squad will face a trio of out-of-conference opponents.
Women's Basketball
October 20th vs Dalhousie Tigers - 4 PM - Calgary, Alta.
October 21st vs Mount Royal Cougars - 5 PM - Calgary, Alta.
The women also take in their final pre-season play this weekend in Calgary. A 10-win team last season, the Heat, retained four starters from last year's roster and will shoot for a third consecutive playoff berth.
