Men’s volleyball Zach van Geel takes home Athlete of the Week honours powered by Meal Prep for You, for the week ending on February 23rd.

In his second playoff appearance, van Geel was at his very best for the Heat in their play-in series against the Manitoba Bisons last week. The fourth-year setter had 90 assists over his team’s two matches, helping the Heat hit .306 percent. He would add five kills, five aces, 24 digs and three block assists in two tightly-contested games. Van Geel’s 54 assists in Friday’s five-set marathon matched his career-high for a single game while his four aces and 15 digs in Saturday’s four-set match set a new career single-game best in both statistical categories for the dynamic setter.

This is the third time this season and in his career that van Geel has been named Athlete of the Week.
