Third-year second base/shortstop Katie Nelson was a key contributor for the UBCO Heat softball team during its 3-3 weekend road trip to Lethbridge, Alta. Finishing with a .462 batting average, Nelson delivered six singles in 13 at-bats. The Langley, B.C., product added three walks to bring her on-base percentage to .529. She also notched four runs batted in (RBI), scored five runs, and stole one base. In the Heat’s 6-2 win over the Victoria Vikes, who currently sit tied for first in the standings, Nelson singled in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. Her presence was also felt in the field, recording 11 putouts without an error for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
