Two matches versus fellow national championship entry, the Calgary Dinos, are the final two events prior to the Canada West women's volleyball conference getting underway for the UBC Okanagan Heat.
Taking part of the Dino Cup, at the University of Calgary in the Jack Simpson Gymnasium the Heat and Dinos will square off two times this weekend, a match scheduled for Thursday night and a Saturday afternoon affair. Thursday to get underway ta 5 p.m. PT. while Saturday's first serve is slated for 3 p.m. PT.
A slim preseason schedule for Steve Manuel's squad having played in just three matches two weeks ago in Kamloops. Manuel, going into his 18th season as head coach, didn't get the wins in Kamloops but was very pleased with the performance of his entire roster, returning home achieving the preset goal of working through lineups and players for the three matches.
The season 'for real' will open for the Heat on Friday, October 19 in Edmonton when the Heat play the MacEwan Griffins for a match Friday and then one on Saturday.
The first chance to see the Heat on their Kelowna home court will be on Friday, October 26 when the Trinity Western Spartans are in town for the UBCO home opener. That match will begin at 6 p.m.
