PREVIEW: Heat look to keep perfect season alive at PacWest Championship

Kelowna, BC - The Heat women's team will look to keep their perfect season alive this weekend when they travel to Nanaimo for the PacWest Championship at the Nanaimo Golf Club. The three round tournament will determine which teams will represent the conference in the CCAA National Championship in Medicine Hat, AB.

All-Canadians:

The Heat will feature two newly appointed All-Canadians on their roster, as rookies Samantha Copeland and Rebecca Reitsma both earned this accomplishment through their performance in the first three conference tournaments. Reitsma is coming off her first individual title of the season while Copeland picked up victories in both the Langara and UBCO Invitationals, the first two tournaments on the year.

Season summary:

As a team it has been a flawless season so far for the women as they have captured all three conference tournaments by a combined 18 shots over the VIU Mariners. Following the season-opening win the team would move up to No.1  in the CCAA Rankings and have stayed their ever since.

Coaches thought's:

Cass Hritzuk, who has been focusing on the men's team for the majority of the season, has been impressed with the play of all three women especially that of Reitsma. Hritzuk noted that "the more experience she gains the more she will realize just how good she is, and I predict the flood gates will open for her as she continues to believe in herself."

About the Nanaimo Golf Club:

Nanaimo Golf Club is a spectacular 18-hole semi-private course, with full practice facilities and Pro Shop. At 6,700 yards from its championship tees, the course is a test for low handicap golfers to produce long, straight drives to reach the greens in regulation. At the same time, the five other sets of tees on each hole allow middle and high handicap players to find a level of play suited to their game.
