RECAP: Offense struggles for Heat men in loss at Mount Royal

CALGARY - UBCO men's volleyball was unable to find an offensive rhythm in a three-set loss (25-16, 25-22, 25-19) at Mount Royal on Friday night on Kenyon Court.

After hitting -.083 in the first set, the Heat turned their attack around and finished the match hitting .179. However, that was still not enough to slow down the Cougars who hit .303 for the match and swept the match.

The Heat's match leader was Max Heppell with 11 points and an attack efficiency of 0.192 percent. Mount Royal was led by second-year middle Luis Lange with an attack percentage of 0.533 - out of 12.5 points, 11 of those were kills.

The first set started slow for Mount Royal, but they soon found their pace and gained the lead. They took the first set, winning 25-16 with a healthy 14 kills to the Heat's five.

In the second set, UBCO took a slight lead and held a strong hitting percentage of 0.321 percent. Despite the strong comeback from UBCO, Mount Royal took the set 25-22.

The Cougars dominated the beginning of the third set, but the Heat regained their footing after a six-point gap. UBCO led the set for kills with 13 to Mount Royal's 12.

Mount Royal swept the match, taking the lead in all three sets. UBCO matched the Cougars at nearly every step, but were unable to pull ahead.
