Camille Galloway is the rare university student-athlete that changed her sport halfway through her time studing at UBCO. Starting on the Heat women's soccer team, the Whitehorse, Y.T., played two seasons, one as a red-shirt, on the pitch before dropping soccer for the challenge of cross country.
Once on the racing circuit, Galloway, a nursing student, ran off with her Heat team collecting three straight national medals in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Her UBCO team finished second, first, and third in her three years in the CCAA. Galloway was the second-fastest Heat runner in all of those national championship races.
A year off from competing saw Galloway join the Heat coaching staff, but she returned to competition last year (2019-20) while working on her Masters in the science of nursing. Not missing a step, Galloway led the Heat team winning one Canada West race and earning an all-star at the CW championships.
“I chose UBCO for the flexibility of the MSN program that allows me to work, study and train in a positive and supportive environment.”
