Anastazia Ziros

Anastazia Ziros

A devastating injury to Anastazia Ziros in UBCO’s first game of the season cost this former collegiate rookie of the year the entire 2018 season.

Back and healthy for the start of 2019, the defender will be counted on to help replace two backline stalwarts for UBCO. The Heat lost a pair of 4-year starters from last year’s roster to graduation, in Ally Ferronato and Lindsey Berthelsen.

Anastazia or ‘Stazs’ as she is known to her teammates will be looked upon to step up on the field, as a defensive presence, and also in the step up on the locker room. Both Ferronato and Berthelsen were strong leaders for the young Heat club last fall.

The women’s soccer team will continue with their preseason training up until they kick-off for real on September 5. The Heat open their conference season on the road in Calgary, playing the U of C Dinos. The home-opener against the Alberta Pandas is set for Friday, September 13, with a 5:30 p.m. start time.
