A knack for clutch plays, Pierson Stanley’s attacking style on the pitch culminated in the talented first-year player being named the UBC Okanagan Heat Rookie of the Year. Stanley, who only picked up the sport of soccer at the age of 10, became the first men’s soccer player to win the UBCO rookie of the year in UBCO’s history.
He led the team in assists and was tied for third in shots on goal, and his memorable first goal for UBCO was a game-winner versus MacEwan. This landed him on the Canada West conference all-rookie team – only the second Heat men's soccer player to earn that distinction.

He said that he'd play rugby if he wasn't on the soccer team, Stanley found that UBCO was the right spot for him for a number of reasons.
"I chose UBCO because it has everything I need. The right academic program, a welcoming and beautiful campus, and a great opportunity as a footballer."
